Massage Therapy:

At the Yreka Healing Arts Center we have five massage practicioners who each specialize in specific techniques of massage therapy. Massage can take many forms from traditional Swedish oil massage to Shiatsu, cranio-sacral, hot stone, lymphatic and raindrop/aromatherapy massages. Each type of massage has a different emphasis.

Swedish oil massage can be light or deep tissue and is a theraputic technique that can be a effective treatment for many discomforts.

Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese massage that is done on a mat on the floor and consists of acupressure, stretches and massage.

Cranio-sacral is an intuitive and healing art as well as a scientific form of therapy and is the most subtle of the massage techniques.

Hot stone therapy is an ancient practice incorporating the use of warm stones placed at key positions on your body which assist in accessing and releasing stored traumatic energies.

Lymphatic massage is a technique that flushes the lymphatic system and helps purify the body.

Raindrop/aromatherapy utilizes essential plant oils during the massage, particularly on the back, which are massaged into the tissues.

There are numerous benefits from massage. These include:

Polarity Therapy:

Irene giving treatment

Polarity Therapy is a natural health care system that works with the Human Energy Field. It was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, who was a pioneer in holistic health care in the early 1900's. He was a chiropractor and osteopath who spent 60 years studying and testing health theories from around the world. Dr. Stone came to believe that the structural system is governed by the subtle energy system and that disease is caused by blocked energy. He then developed protocols based on his theories.

Since the teaching of polarity therapy began in the 1970's, it has attracted many specialists including nurses, doctors, and occupational therapists in the US, Canada and Europe who are now integrating polarity techniques into their own brand of healing. Then, in 1984, polarity therapy was brought to the attention of the main stream medical community by Leslie Korn who taught polarity therapy at Harvard Medical School. Presently this technique is one of the most popular alternative medical models being taught at several medical schools throughout the US. According to a 1994 survey, 13 percent of the nation's hospitals are integrating some type of alternative treatment with conventional medical care.

The polarity model teaches, "All life is movement. Where there is no movement, there is no life". It is encouraging to see that our present-day health care options are moving toward and embracing this polarity model.

Aqua Chi Detoxifying Bath:

The Aqua Chi module transforms electric current into negative ions, negative ions open channels and pathways within the body thus releasing stored toxins. As toxins are released they appear in the tub as different colors which can show what part of the body is being detoxified. Sherri Walters is our Aqau Chi practitioner and resident Reiki Master.
